How to Track Your Cell Phone

Need to keep tabs on the location of your Android phone? Here are a few easy tricks you can follow to find the exact location of your phone.
Tracking down a phone is quite easy, whether you’re going to use it to find your stolen or lost phone back or to spy on some. Thanks to Android phones, we don’t have to plant GPS tracking chips and such into someone’s phone to track it and installing software can easily be done by downloading an app. There are ways to track older non-smartphones but this will be harder.

Tracking your smartphone before you lose it
Make sure you are prepared for the day the unthinkable happens. This will make finding your phone back much easier. If you’ve got an Android phone, consider installing the app below.

Prey
Prey is a free and open-source anti-theft application that can be used both for Android mobile phones and mobile computers. After signing up for the service, simply sync your devices with it and your ready. The day you lose your phone, all you’ll have to do is go to a computer, log in to your account and start tracking. Prey runs discretely in the background of your phone and won’t start tracking until you tell it to, so you don’t have to worry about your privacy. Prey offers GPS and Wi-Fi geo-location services, SIM card change detection, a lock function, uninstall protection and more.

Tracking your smartphone after you lose it.
If you didn’t have the chance to install a tracking app before your phone got lost, there is still hope.

Plan B
Try downloading the application Plan B. Even though your phone is gone, you can still install Plan B remotely by logging in to the Google Play store on your PC. When you click install, the app will be sent to your missing phone and will start installing. When the download is complete, it will send your phone’s location info to your email account and if you wish to receive extra updates, away from your PC, use a friend’s phone to text “Locate” to your lost phone. Your lost phone will then send a text with location info back.

Tracking someone else’s phone with their permission.

If you want to track somebody’s phone with their permission, try to call them first and ask them where they are, this might prove the easiest way. Then again, if you can’t always trust the person you are trying to locate, try Google Latitude. After you’ve installed the app on your phone, add the person you wish to track to send them an invitation. If that person approves the request, you’ll have complete access to their whereabouts on Google Maps. This option is especially useful for parents who need to keep an eye on their kids.

Tracking someone else’s phone without their permission.

Always respects someone’s right to privacy, but if you really have to track someone without their consent or knowledge, here are a few tips how to do it.

Tracking a smartphone is relatively simple as you’ve been able to read above. The easiest method to track someone else is to discretely install tracking app on that person’s phone. Do it when they’re sleeping or when their phone is unattended and don’t forget to hide the icon of whatever tracking app you install. You can try to hide it in an obscure folder and hope the person doesn’t notice it too soon or you could install an app hider program like AppHider to make the icon disappear entirely.

considering lifting the ban on gaming consoles

Finally some good news for console manufacturers and the gamers of China with regards to the gaming console ban. The Chinese government is possibly going to lift the ban on computer consoles. No longer will the Chinese government have to be worried that Sony has constructed some sort of Japanese spying device but rather accept the Playstation as an entertainment platform. The world’s biggest population will allow its users to purchase gaming consoles from the big giants such as Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. Usual gaming consoles are imported into China via Japan or the USA therefore all the electronics and games also had to come from the respective areas and getting Chinese versions of computer games were nearly impossible. As a foreign living in China I never understood fully why there was a gaming ban as China hasn’t got any gaming console manufacturers to protect and also gaming is huge in China, especially online games and now gaming on mobile phones is increasingly popular. Last November, Sony’s PlayStation 3 received a quality certification from a Chinese safety standards body, prompting speculation that the Chinese Government were thinking of changing its mind.
I predict that if or maybe when China opens its doors to these gaming console giants it will increase the shares and could also change the gaming outlook, especially with a prospective 1.3 billion gamers. The powers that be are reviewing the policy after over a decade ago the ban was enforced in fears that gaming may corrupt the youth and be bad for their mental health development. The gaming industry and the manufacturers could benefit heavily, as many companies have an ambition to enter and open themselves up to the vast Chinese mainland market. What Is the Difference Between 1080p and 1080i?

Resolution
Both 1080p and 1080i have 1080 horizontal lines of vertical resolution which with a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9 results in a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels (2.1 megapixels). It is not true that 1080i has a lower vertical resolution than 1080p.
Frames vs. fields
1080p is a frame-based or progressive-scan video where you are dealing with frames. You have frame rate and it is expressed in frames per second. 1080i is a field-based or interlaced or interleaved video where you are dealing with fields. You havefield rate and it is expressed in fields per second. A field contains half of the lines of the frame, either even lines or odd lines, and if one field is composed of even lines, then the next one will be composed of odd lines and so on.
Frequencies
1080p has a frame rate of 25 frames per second for TV in PAL countries, 30/1.001 frames per second for TV in NTSC countries and 24 frames per second for cinematography. 1080i has a field rate of 50 fields per second for TV in PAL countries and 60/1.001 fields per second in NTSC countries. (Note that it is not 30 frames and 60 fields per second for NTSC but actually 30/1.001 and 60/1.001which is approximately 29.97 and 59.94 but the difference is important. Read about the NTSC color encoding on Wikipedia to see why.)
How to think about it
1080p at 25 frames per second: Imagine that you are shooting 25 pictures per second and storing them as bitmaps. Every frame is a full picture from the given instant. Every pixel in that frame was captured at the same time.
1080i at 50 fields per second: Imagine that you are shooting 50 pictures per second but storing onlyhalf of the bitmaps every time – sometimes you store the odd lines and sometimes the even lines. (Note that it is not the same as storing pictures with lower vertical resolution.) Every field is a half of a full picture from the given instant. Every pixel in that field was captured at the same time.
50 halves is not the same as 25 full pictures
Interlaced video at 50 Hz does not mean that 25 full pictures per second are shown. It means that 50 halves of pictures are shown but those are halves of 50 different pictures that were shot at 50 distinct moments of time in every second. You not only don’t have 50 full pictures per second – you don’t have any full pictures at all.

WikiCancel -Collection of Guides to Close Accounts

Sometimes the directions for closing an account on an online service are buried deep in a web site and impossible to find. WikiCancel is a wiki page that lists the cancellation procedures for popular services, subscriptions, and contracts.

WikiCancel works like any other wiki page. Click a link for a service you want to close, and WikiCancel shows you exactly how to do it. That in itself is handy, but WikiCancel also shows you how to cancel magazine subscriptions, and walks you through the closing contract services like a cell phone or internet. For contracts, it also usually includes the ways you avoid the cancellation fees when closing your account. WikiCancel is a wiki, so if it looks like a few services are missing, feel free to add to the list to make it better.
For guides about closing other online accounts check this page as well [accountkiller].

Clean up Your Facebook Profile With FaceWash

We’ve all been there. Your grandmother just joined Facebook, your boss sent you a friend request or you’re applying for that dream job. Suddenly, you’re scrambling to purge your profile of last night’s pictures plus everything else you wouldn’t want Grams to see.
Painstakingly filtering through your Timeline isn’t going to cut it, but FaceWash makes it easier. Three Kent State University undergrads created a web app that cleans your profile of incriminating content to give you a “fresh face.”
The app allows users to search the profile with a “dirty word” list, a precompiled set of offensive or distasteful terms. You can also input your own words, and the returned results are displayed in categories such as “links that you have liked” or comments.

Managing Social Media Updates

Without doubt an effective Social Media Program requires a significant amount of time, commitment and most importantly perseverance. Many companies are already stretched without the introduction of yet another Social Network. So where is the time going to come from for businesses to leverage Google Plus?
The introduction of Google Plus requires businesses to review Social Media Programs and determine where, if anywhere cuts can be made.
We reviewed our current Social Media Programs and decided there’s not a lot of room to start cutting in one area, just to promote businesses on Google Plus. That left reviewing our processes to determine how we could improve efficiency while completing Social Media Updates.
