360 Report: Beijing Internet Speed is Faster Than Hong Kong

Qihoo 360, a Chinese software company known for its antivirus software (360 Safeguard) and web browser (360 Browsers) yesterday released a report namely “2013’s first quarter of China’s Internet speed “showing that Shanghai is the fastest with the speed of 4.7Mbps while Beijing which reaching 3.5Mbps ranks the third in the mainland, but faster than Hongkong.
According to 360, the average internet speed in China is 3.14Mbps, which is much higher than the 1.6Mbps issued by the foreign agencies in the early of this year. In the mainland, Shanghai with 4.7Mbps Internet bandwidth ranks on the top, and the other top five are: Jiangsu (3.93Mbps), Beijing (3.5 Mbps), Fujian (3.39 Mbps), Tianjin (3.33 Mbps). The report also respectively showed that Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau are the speed of 4.7 Mbps, 3.36 Mbps and 4.32 Mbps.
Among the carrier’s data, China Telecom has the most extensive coverage and the largest number of users, followed by China Unicom. In addition, with 15 network operators covered, Beijing has become the most competitive region for those operators; followed by Guangdong and Shanghai, respectively 14 and 9.
